What is Core Fit?

The class is a combination of strengthening, toning and stretching exercises, focusing primarily on the muscles or the trunk (core); the abdominals and the muscles of the back. The class integrates a variety of methods including Piilates and Yoga.

Aim

  • To strengthen the core muscles (abdominals and back) as well as muscles associated with the shoulder and hip.
  • To increase flexibility, to allow us to resist injury and move with ease.
  • To increase our total body awareness.

How can we achieve this?

  • By learning to identify our body landmarks and where each landmark is in relation to the others.
  • By improving our posture and learning to use our muscles to hold ourselves correctly at all times, whether exercising or not.
  • By learning to breathe correctly to increase the oxygen supply to our muscles, to release tension, to focus the mind and to activate the deep support muscles of the trunk.
