Lupe is originally from Mercedes, Texas. He was a 1984 High School Doubles State Finalist
and ranked #25 in the National Junior College Poll in 1986. In 1989 Lupe graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education & Spanish. He has worked as a tennis professional at Kingwood Athletic Club from 1991-2002 and recently at Memorial Northwest Swim & Racquet Club in 2003. Lupe was ranked as high as #14 nationally in mens 30 and over.
